testing testing

My computer is psychotic. It won't let me see my own entries.

It's driving me insane.

Will this work?

I've noticed sometimes pages here don't seem to refresh correctly -- it could be a refresh/reload issue. I think what might be happening is that sometimes it reloads the "old" version of the page from the browser cache instead of getting the new updated page from the server, when what you want is the latter. Some browsers seem to have more than one type of refresh/reload command, including one that forces it to reload the page from the server.

You'll have to figure out how to do the forced reload with your particular browser, but it looks like it's commonly some combination of control- and/or shift- and typing R or clicking the refresh button.

Trying a different browser might help -- Firefox is pretty good. I find I have more than one browser on most machines, since some work better for some web sites than others.

Thanks, sandman1. I have tried to work on this problem, but I am what my friend calls a techno-jackass.

Don't blame yourself when the technology sucks -- why should there be any such subtle issue as refresh or reload? There shouldn't!

I find regardless of the level of techno-savvy everybody seems to have computer problems; the more advanced users just have more advanced problems, which are sometimes worse because they don't have easy solutions. I might say "Arrgh! I can't find a Linux SMP kernal that works with this FPDP card's driver!"** and you might say "I don't know what most of those nouns even mean! I just want my stupid browser to work!" and I would happily say "ahh, now that's a problem I might be able to solve!".

(** this was an actual problem I had, and I never found one, but at least it was at work so I wasn't wasting my own time fighting with it...)
